Veterans' Representative Online Booking
As a U.S. Military Veteran (or eligible spouse), you have the opportunity to book a one-on-one appointment with a Workforce Connection veterans' representative.
Why book an appointment with a Veterans' Representative?
Simply put, our veterans' representatives are experts on the full menu of Workforce Connection reemployment services which are available to out-of-work veterans in Citrus, Levy and Marion counties. We have found that most job search campaigns can be improved when a job seeker works in partnership with a veterans' representative.
Veterans' Representatives provide veterans with the following services:
Initial Assessment and Services Matching
During your first appointment with a veterans' representative, the representative will assess your job-search strengths and challenges and will recommend Workforce Connection services to help improve the success of your job search.
Job Search Coaching and One-on-One Placement Services
Your veterans' representative will help you search for your next job in the Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM) and in a number of other online and real world resources. They will suggest solutions to help you overcome job search related barriers and encourage and work with you every step of the way.
Resume Assistance Coaching
Have your resume critiqued by a veterans' representative and learn best-practice tips to help it stand out during employer review. Your veterans' representative will also provide valuable resume resources such as instructional online webinars and Workforce Connection's Optimal Résumé service. Optimal Resume provides a no-cost suite of online resume support resources to help you build your resume, create a cover letter, upload a portfolio, record a video resume and prepare for job interviews. Your veterans' representative will also help you navigate Monster.com and upload your resume so that you can expand your exposure to employers.
Referral to Workshops and Seminars
Workforce Connection offers a wide array of reemployment workshops including "Navigating the New World of Work," "Computer Basics," "EFM Essentials," "Nail That Interview," "Refueling and Retooling for Success" and "Optimal Resume." Your veterans' representative can provide you with information and referral to workshops that interest you.
Advanced Labor Market Information
Ask your veterans' representative about career information, salaries paid by position in the local market, job training, near-term job vacancy trends and long-term career outlook. When making important decisions about your job search strategy you can never have too much information.
Not sure what your next career move should be? Take this online transferability skills analysis and then meet with your veterans' representative to discuss what job search and career options are best suited to your unique skills.
Having an effective interview with a prospective employer is almost always the result of advance preparation. Our veterans' representatives can review interview tips and best practices, conduct mock interviews to help sharpen your skills, and refer you to additional online interview preparation websites.
Job Search Check-Up
If you have been on a long-term job search (six months or more) and have had no success in finding work, a Workforce Connection veterans' representative can provide you with a Job Search Check-Up. During the check-up, your veterans' representative will identify ways your job-search efforts may be improved.
